The Ministry of Science and ICT has been annually selecting the 100 National R&D Excellence Achievements since 2006 to promote public awareness and interest in the significant role of science and technology in driving national development. This initiative aims to instill pride among scientists and engineers. In the year 2022, UnU was honored to be chosen as one of the 100 National R&D Excellence achievements.

Out of the 75,000 government-supported R&D projects, 852 projects were carefully selected based on recommendations from heads of ministries, ministers, and offices. The selection criteria included technical completeness, level improvement, and development promotion. The Excellence Performance Selection Evaluation Committee thoroughly assessed these projects, and their selection was further confirmed through public inspection.

In the energy/environmental field, 17 achievements were selected, three of which were from the Ministry of Environment. UnU’s outstanding contribution as the “Optimal Energy Management Solution for Smart Sensor-based Integrated Wastewater / Water Treatment Plants” (led by Research Director Kwangtae You) earned its well-deserved recognition.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the UnU executives and employees, the Ministry of Environment, and research institutes for their invaluable contributions that led to this remarkable achievement and selection. It is through collective effort and dedication that such accomplishments are made possible.
